Who we are
World Curving Art Shop is a family-owned carving business specializing in hand-sculpted wood art, carving wood, animal skins, soapstone carvings, and wood blocks for artists and collectors worldwide. Behind every piece we sell is a family story that began more than three decades ago in Nyahururu, Kenya.
Our family’s journey in the carving business began in 1993 in Nyahururu, home to the famous Thomson Falls, one of Kenya’s most beautiful tourist attractions.
My mother and aunt started as shop attendants in a carving shop located near Thomson Falls, where tourists from around the world came to admire the waterfall and take home handcrafted carvings as souvenirs. Every day they learned about the art, the craftsmanship, and the stories behind each carving.
After years of hard work and experience, they took a courageous step and opened their own carving shop. Through dedication, honesty, and a love for authentic African art, they built a business that served visitors from many different countries.
Growing up, I watched customers admire the carvings and listened to stories from travelers who visited Thomson Falls. Those experiences inspired me and taught me the value of preserving our artistic heritage.
Today, I am proud to continue the family tradition. While the world has changed, our passion for handcrafted carvings remains the same. I have taken our family’s business online through World Curvings Art Shop, allowing customers worldwide to discover authentic carvings, sculptures, and handcrafted artwork.
What started beside the beautiful Thomson Falls more than 30 years ago has now reached customers across the globe.
